The Centre for Applied AI (formerly known as the Centre for Mobile Innovation) creates innovative solutions to industry-relevant challenges in mobile health, in close collaboration with industry, community, and academic partners.
The Centre for Applied AI's research projects evolve organically from small and medium-sized enterprises. The Centre brings industry and community partners together with Sheridan's faculty expertise and student talent to develop the most cutting-edge and impactful solutions in mobile technology.
The Centre for Applied AI receives provincial, federal and international funding as well as contributions from partners in the form of both cash and in-kind resources to conduct applied research projects that enhance business efficiencies and profitability, create societal impact, and contribute to keeping Ontario and Canada at the forefront.
Cutting-edge technology in research
The Centre for Applied AI’s researchers and students use leading technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Mobile, Wearable Computing, Augmented/Virtual Reality/Mixed Reality (AR/VR/MR) and Internet of Things (IoT).
The Centre for Applied AI’s facilities include two labs supported by CFI/MRI that cover more than 2,000 square feet. These labs are equipped with state-of-the-art resources, including powerful NVIDIA DGX stations tailored for Machine Learning research. The Centre also has an array of Virtual and Mixed Reality tools such as Microsoft Hololens, IoT sensors and devices, and comprehensive software development and source code management tools.

President of NSERC visits Sheridan’s Centre for Applied AI (formerly known as the Centre for Mobile Innovation)

Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) President Dr. Alejendro Adem visited the Centre for Applied AI (formerly known as the Centre for Mobile Innovation) at Sheridan's Trafalgar Road Campus in Oakville. The visit was part of an announcement that Sheridan is among 10 postsecondary institutions being recognized through its Dimensions program, which is aimed at advancing equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in research environments.
